Piano

Instructor Jon DixonGroup Piano classes provide adults with the opportunity to learn to play piano and read music in an enjoyable and sociable setting. Adults are encouraged, but not required, to participate in recitals at the end of each semester. Tuition is $160 for 15-week semesters in Fall and Spring. An 8-week summer session is $90. Beginners
This class is for adults with little or no prior musical experience and provides an introduction to the fundamentals of piano technique. In a hands-on piano lab group setting, students will be introduced to keyboard orientation, music reading and notation.

A continuation from Beginning Adult Group Piano I. Prerequisite: one semester of CMS-D group piano or placement by an instructor.

Advanced
A continuation from Beginning Adult Group Piano II. Prerequisite: two semesters of CMS-D group piano or placement by an instructor.

Advanced: Learn to Play Popular Music
This approach to piano instruction emphasizes the student's ability to quickly learn to play popular songs and standards utilizing chords.
Prerequisite: Students must be able to read music with some proficiency.

Buddy Lessons for two students at a time are a great way to make semi-private music lessons more affordable. They are also convenient for students who struggle to fit regular class times into their schedule. A minimum of four lessons must be purchased and paid for in advance. Financial assistance is not available for Buddy Lessons.

Private Lessons provide one-on-one instruction. A minimum of 4 lessons must be purchased and paid for in advance. Financial assistance is not available for private lessons.

Private and Buddy lesson rates:

  • $25 for 30 minutes
  • $37.50 for 45 minutes
  • $50 for 60 minutes
