Strings

CMS-Detroit String Ensembles are for adults who would like to learn to play a string instrument for the first time, or return to play with a focus on fundamentals. Fall and Spring semesters (15 weeks each), and a Summer session (8 weeks) are offered. Adults are encouraged to participate in a recital for family and friends at the end of each session. If available, instruments can be loaned at no charge to registered students.

Fall & Spring Schedule:

Adult Strings I (Beginners) – Tuesdays 6-7 p.m.
Tuition: $160 per semester

Adults Strings II (Intermediate/Advanced) – Tuesdays 7-9 p.m.
Tuition $175 per semester

Summer Schedule:

Adult Strings I – 6-7 p.m.
Adult Strings II – 7-8 p.m.
Tuition: $85

Classes are taught by Leslie DeShazor, an accomplished soloist, teacher and recording artist. DeShazor holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and performs with the Ann Arbor, Saginaw, Flint and Sphinx symphony orchestras, as well as jazz ensembles. She has been featured on recordings by Grammy Award-winning artists including Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin and Fred Hammond.
