Fifth House -- Free Concert!

Have you ever heard paper clips being used as part of a musical instrument? What about three people playing the same piano? How about balloons and ping pong balls as an essential part of a piece?

Join the Community Music School-Detroit family for a concert field trip to hear this and much more from the Fifth House Ensemble. Hailing from Chicago, the members of Fifth House—flute, cello, and piano—are known for their dramatic interpretation and creative energy. Their creative projects have included everything from graphic novelists to live interactive performances of the video game, Journey. The group will have a Q+A session after the concert to talk about what it’s like to make music with graphic novelists, storytellers, video game designers, and making a life in music.

CMS-D students and families will gather on Friday, November 17 at 6 PM for a pre-party at CMS before taking the Q-Line down to MusicTown.

RSVP to save your tickets, which will be available at CMS-D at 6 PM that evening, or at Will Call at MusicTown prior to the concert.

This presentation is supported by the Arts MidwestTouring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from MCACA and the Crane Group.

There will definitely be drum sticks on Thanksgiving Day at the MSU Detroit Center! "Spartans on Parade for Kids" will raise funds for MSU Community Music School-Detroit students with financial need on Thursday, November 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A prime location for watching America's Thanksgiving Day Parade, guests at the MSU Detroit Center (3408 Woodward) will enjoy window views of Woodward Avenue, a delicious buffet breakfast, live music performed by students, and arts & crafts activities for children. A silent auction will offer items such as restaurant gift certificates, concert tickets and select merchandise.

Both indoor and outdoor general admission seating is provided.

1126150927_HDR.jpgTickets for this fundraising event are $45 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under (all but $15 per ticket is tax deductible).
