High School Band and Chamber Music Camp

THIS CAMP WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN 2016

The High School Band and Chamber Music Camp is a day camp for high school students who have completed at least two years of instrumental study. Campers will further their musical development through theory, masterclasses, chamber ensemble and large ensemble playing. This five-day camp meets in the Music and Music Practice Building on the MSU Campus with lunch provided at an MSU cafeteria. The week ends with a concert for parents and friends on Friday at Fairchild Theatre.

Students are required to submit a recording of their prepared audition by June 1. Links to YouTube videos and audio CDs are acceptable. Students should perform a two-octave chromatic scale and two contrasting excerpts of their choice (one slow/melodic, one fast/technical). Section coaches will review auditions and determine each camper's placement in the large and chamber ensembles.
