The Michigan State University Community Music School (CMS) in East Lansing brings music education and music therapy to individuals of all ages and abilities in the Greater Lansing community.
CMS programs and services have the ability to transform lives through music. Some therapy clients have spoken their first words at CMS. Young music students who were struggling academically have found the confidence to succeed in school. Adults who once felt isolated have found a community and a sense of belonging at CMS. Other students have found their calling in life at CMS and have gone on to study music at the collegiate level.
It is the goal of CMS to offer music, and its inherent possibilities, to individuals in the Greater Lansing community regardless of age, ability, or income.
CMS East Lansing offers private lessons on more than 20 different instruments, more than 15 classes and ensembles, six different summer camps, and music therapy.
