Monthly Music Therapy Groups

The MSU Community Music School offers monthly group music therapy classes.

Together, Let's Jam! (once per month)
Designed for all ages who love rockin' out! Fast-paced and fun, participants play various drums, percussion instruments, microphones, dances, movement activities, and guitars.

Some of the music activities include:

  • Rock 'N' Roll Combo—playing instruments and singing rock 'n roll songs
  • This Mic's For You—everyone singing together and passing the microphone
  • We've Got Talent—individuals performing in front of the group
  • We've Got the Beat—drumming and playing the percussion instruments
  • Our Own Rhythms—creating interactive rhythms with partners

When: Meets the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Instructors: Cindy Edgerton and Amber Teunis

Cost: $15 per student/$20 per family, per session; financial assistance is available

Crazy Action Songs (once per month)
This fun, active group is designed to improve speech, fine/gross motor, memorization, and academic skills for elementary and middle school aged children. Some of the music activities include:

  • Show Me the Way That You Bug-a-loo!
  • Dinosaur Stomp, Stomp, Stomp and Chomp, Chomp, Chomp!
  • Many Different Ways to Play the Sticks
  • Bear Hunt, Shark Song, and More!

When: Meets the second Wednesday of every month from 6:00-6:45 p.m.
Instructors: Amber Teunis

Cost: $15 per student/$20 per family, per session; financial assistance is available

To enroll, please contact the MSU Community Music School at (517) 355-7661. Register for the entire semester or pay as you go. Also, students are encouraged to bring friends, and siblings are welcome to attend as well! Bi-weekly and weekly groups, along with individual music therapy sessions, are also available.
