CADSA Drop-In Groups

The MSU Community Music School and the Capital Area Down Syndrome Association (CADSA) have partnered to offer two monthly drop-in classes to CADSA members and members of the community.

Together...Let's Jam!
Designed for children, adolescents and adults who love rockin' out! Fast-paced and fun, participants play various drums, percussion instruments, microphones, dances, movement activities and guitars.
Generally meets the first Wednesday of every month from 6-7 p.m.

Crazy Action Songs
Elementary and middle school aged children participate in fun, active exercises designed to improve speech, fin/gross motor, memorization and academic skills.
Generally meets the second Wednesday of every month from 6 - 6:45 p.m

Some of the music activities include:

  • Rock 'N' Roll Combo—playing instruments and singing rock 'n roll songs
  • This Mic's For You—everyone singing together and passing the microphone
  • We've Got Talent—individuals performing in front of the group
  • We've Got the Beat—drumming and playing the percussion instruments
  • Our Own Rhythms—creating interactive rhythms with partners
  • Time to Compose—working individually and as a group in songwriting
  • Let's Just Do It—creating instrumental and vocal improvisations

Classes are free for members of CADSA and $5 for non-members. If you wish to become a member, it is a $20 annual donation for a down syndrome membership and $25 for a supporting membership.
