Catherine Noe'Rourke (Voice)

Lyric Soprano, Catherine Noe'Rourke is the newest addition to the Voice Department at the Michigan State University Community Music School!

Ms. Noe’Rourke holds graduate degrees from the New England Conservatory, where she was a Presidential Scholar, and continued full-time graduate studies at both Indiana University and the University of Michigan. At Indiana University, she was an Associate Instructor and the Head of the Secondary Voice Department. At the University of Michigan, she held a full studio of Music Theatre Majors at one of the strongest and best-acclaimed Music Theatre programs in the country.

She continued her training as a Gerdine Young Artist at The Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, a Resident Artist at Central City Opera, and an Artist Apprentice at the late, great Opera Boston.

Highlights of her singing career include covering and singing cover performances of some of her favorite ingenues in the repertoire: Susanna The Marriage of Figaro (Opera Theatre of Saint Louis), Governess Turn of the Screw (Central City Opera), Marie Antoinette The Ghosts of Versailles (Opera Theatre of Saint Louis), and Musetta La Boheme (Central City Opera).

Other favorite performances include Gutsav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony (MIT Symphony Orchestra), Lucienne The Ghosts of Versailles (Wexford Festival Opera in Wexford, Ireland), Sandrina The Secret Gardener (Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh), Lucy The Telephone (Opera Boston), Ohio Entelechron (Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble), Pamina Die Zauberflöte (Flagstaff in Fidenza in Fidenza, Italy), Donna Anna Don Giovanni (The University of Michigan), Beth Little Women (Indiana University), Countess Le nozze di Figaro (New England Conservatory), and Alma Summer and Smoke (New England Conservatory).

Having developed successful studios in Boston, MA, Bloomington, IN, and Lansing, MI, her teaching experience runs the gamut of styles and interests. She enjoys helping to strengthen area choir programs one by one, and also contributing to community theater projects - most recently having a student sing Sandy in Grease: The Musical at Riverwalk Theatre.

In her summer life as an administrator, Catherine Noe’Rourke is the Company Manager of the incredible Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble - sharing new and important work with audiences in Pittsburgh and beyond.

She is an avid world traveler, foodie, tea connoisseur, yogi, and local food enthusiast. She is recently married to MSU’s Director of Orchestras and Professor of Conducting, Kevin Noe.
