Cynthia Crump Taggart (Early Childhood)

cynthia taggartDr. Cynthia Taggart is an instructor of Early Childhood Music at the Michigan State University Community Music School. Dr. Taggart is also a Professor and Area Chair of Music Education for the MSU College of Music.

She received her Bachelor of Music with high distinction in Music Education from the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor, with an applied major in French Horn. She received her Master of Music at University of Michigan in Music Education and Doctor of Musical Arts from Temple University.

In 1998, Dr. Taggart was featured in Temple University’s Gallery of Success, and was the University Nominee for the CASE Professor of the Year Award in 1995 by Michigan State University.

Dr. Taggart has taught at the university level at Temple University, assisted in the Department of Music at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and is currently a music professor at Michigan State University. She has also taught a course at the College of St. Rose in New York, and a 3-day workshop on early childhood music at the University of New Mexico. She has also instructed children in Ann Arbor and Kenosha, Wis.

She has also co-authored a series of student music books called “Jump Right In” in addition to other early childhood related publications and articles in music journals.
