Drew Howard (Guitar)

Drew HowardDrew Howard is a musician, songwriter, performer, sideman, studio musician and teacher of 35 years, living in Mason, MI. He has performed across the United States and Europe.

Drew has many years of teaching experience at the private, retail, and academy levels, including stints at Marshall Music/East Lansing (1987-2001), Elderly Instruments/Lansing (1987-1988), Herb David Guitar Studio/Ann Arbor (1984-1987), and MSU-CMS (2008-2009).

Drew plays and teaches the techniques and repertoire of acoustic & electric guitar. In addition he also teaches lap steel, pedal steel guitar and resophonic guitar (dobro). Drew is also proficient on banjo and mandolin.

Areas of expertise and experience include Americana and roots styles such as the blues, rock, country, bluegrass, swing genres, as well as Celtic and even klezmer styles.

Drew recognizes that every student is unique in his or her needs. He can teach you the basics as well as advanced techniques in a variety of genres. As a career musician, Drew can advise you on your musical goals, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or pro.

Drew's recording experience is extensive, appearing on many commercial sessions (Ford, Michelin,Chevrolet, Meijer), as well as appearances on more than 100albums by many of Michigan's finest bands and songwriters. Drew has performed with notables Bo Diddley, Tom Paxton, Greg Brown, Dale Watson, John Sinclair, The Derailers, Steppininit, Blackbird McKnight, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Seth and May, and Phil Madeira.

Drew is the 2010 winner of the Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Country Instrumentalist.
