Fangye Sun (Violin)

Fangye Sun is an instructor of violin at the Michigan State University Community Music School.

Ms. Sun received her Bachelor of Music from the Xi’an Conservatory of Music in China. She received her Master of Music at Michigan State University and is currently working on her Doctor of Musical Arts.

Ms. Sun was the winner of the Michigan State University Concerto Competition in 2007, the Bronze Medal at the “Golden Bell Award” National Violin Competition in 2003, the Best Performance prize at the 7th National Youth Violin Competition in 2001, and the Gold medal at the “Gua Hua” Chinese Youth Violin Competition in 1991. She was also awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music in 2003.

She has worked as an assistant professor of violin at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, violin instructor at St. John Middle School and at the Academy of Music at String Connection. Ms. Sun was also on the violin faculty of the Jackson Symphony Community Music School and Chair of the string department and violin faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

Ms. Sun was the assistant concertmaster of the National Repertory Orchestra in 2007, concertmaster of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp orchestras from 2005 to 2006, and currently serves as concertmaster of the MSU Symphony. She has also been a member of the Residence String Quartet at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the principal second violin of the Lansing Symphony.
