Alison Geesey-Lagan

MSU Children and Youth Choir Director

Alison Geesey-Lagan is the Director of Children and Youth Choirs at the Michigan State University Community Music School, where she oversees choirs for ages 7 to 18. 

Mrs. Lagan earned her master’s degree in choral conducting from Michigan State University in 2019, where she worked as a graduate assistant for State Singers and Women’s Glee Club, as well as assisting in the musicology department. Previously, she earned her bachelor’s degree in music education and master’s degree in music theory from Penn State University in 2014 before beginning her teaching career at Mount Nittany Middle School in State College, Pennsylvania, where she taught for 3 years, directing a variety of choirs and teaching 8th grade general music.

In addition to teaching, Mrs. Lagan is also passionate about vocal health and has presented vocal health sessions at conferences in Michigan and Florida. She is also actively involved in mirabai, a professional-level women’s ensemble, and serves as the coordinator for their Young Women Scholars Program.

Alison resides in East Lansing, MI, with her husband, Brennan, and goldendoodle, Ringo.
