Jacqueline Conlon

Voice

Mezzo-Soprano from Long Island, NY, Jacqueline Conlon received her Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance as a graduate teaching assistant from Michigan State University as well as degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.

As a performer, Jackie is committed to blurring the lines between opera, musical theater, and other genres to create an experience that is fully organic to the character, intention, and musical purpose at hand. Praised for her “sumptuous mid-range” and “embodying the role,” (South Florida Classical Review/OperaWire) Jackie has most recently been seen performing with the Janiec Opera Company where she sang Mrs. Peachum in The Threepenny Opera and covered the Minskwoman in a new production of Flight. Jackie’s other favorite experiences and roles include premiering the role of Carolyn in the World Premiere of Mayo Buckner by Tom Cipullo, Ottone in L'incoronazione di Poppea, and Meg Page in Falstaff.

As an active voice and piano teacher, Jackie prides herself in cultivating humanizing musical experiences that are directed to each individual. She believes that everyone has the innate ability to engage in music-making and singing and that everyone should have the opportunity to do so. With risk-taking, body mapping, and self-assessment at the forefront, Jackie’s collaborative teaching style promotes individual learning, curiosity, and discovery. Jackie has taught private voice to non-majors as a graduate teaching assistant at Michigan State University and The Grace Music School on Long Island, NY. In addition to CMS, she also teaches private voice, piano, and ukulele lessons at the Roth Academy of Music and cantors masses at St Thomas Aquinas Church in East Lansing, MI. Jackie is a proud alumnus of the Janiec Opera Company at Brevard Music Center and Miami
Music Festival and a current student of Jane Bunnell.
