Natalia Bezuglova

Piano

Natalia Bezuglova is a Russian-born pianist residing in the United States since 2010. She is an active solo performer, member of chamber music groups, accompanist, organist and a piano instructor. She performed in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Austria, Russia and United States. She debuted on a professional stage with Rostov State Symphony Orchestra at the age of 10.

In 2016, she received 3rd Prize and Bronze Medal at VII International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in New England (Boston, MA). In 2008, Natalia won the 1st Prize at the 1st D. D. Shostakovich’s International Chamber Music Competition in Moscow. She was also the finalist at the 1st N. Rubinstein’s Open Chamber Music Competition by name of in Moscow in 2007. Natalia was awarded scholarships from Alexander Glazunov Foundation (Munich, 2009), the Johannes Brahms Society (Portschach,  2009), and the “Russian Performing Art” Foundation (Moscow, 2008). She also participated in a number of chamber music festivals in Portschach (Austria), Odessa (Ukraine), Moscow and Rostov-on-Don (Russia).

Her teaching experience includes the position of Assistant Professor of Rostov State Conservatory where she taught chamber music to undergraduate, graduate and distant students prior to moving to the U.S. for permanent residence. She also worked as an accompanist in the Strings Department at Rostov State Conservatory (2008-2010). Along with that, she served as a jury member at the South Federal Chamber Music Competition (Rostov-on-Don, 2009). In 2010, Natalia earned the “Honored Worker” title from the Russian Music Society for the achievements in performing arts and organizing a festival “Russian Premieres”.

In 2012, after moving to the United States, Natalia began serving as an organist and accompanist at Mount Hope United Methodist Church (Lansing, MI). She started working at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp as a Piano Instructor in 2015, and now teaches applied piano, group piano ensembles, gives lectures in musicology to all ages, while also playing concerts at the camp’s concert hall. Natalia began teaching piano at the MSU Community Music School since 2014. 

Her professional education includes DMA in Piano Performance under the mentorship of Professor Deborah Moriarty at Michigan State University College of Music (United States); DMA in Chamber music; M.M. in Collaborative Piano and Piano Teaching from Rostov State Conservatory (Russia). In addition to her formal studies, she has taken part in master classes with Yo-Yo Ma (United States), Michail Bezverhny (Belgium), Gunta Sproge (Latvia), Alexander Bonduriansky (Russia), Dmitry Berlinsky (United States), and Anna Rabinova (United States). She is also a member of the Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) which provide her with the resources to help her reach her future goal of founding a music school based on Russian traditions of the performing arts.
