Voice

Phoenix Miranda is a classically trained and multi-genre vocalist from Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is currently fulfilling her Master’s degree in Voice Performance at Michigan State University (MSU), studying under critically acclaimed Baritone, Mark Rucker. Miranda also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance, with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from MSU. 

Within opera and musical theater, she has performed the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Nanetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, Serpetta in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, Cissie in Britten’s Albert Herring, and Desirèe in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music with the MSU Opera Theatre. She also sang the role of Totsie in Dancing On The Air: The Teenarama Story with Selah Productions in Washington D.C. In addition to her opera and musical theater roles, she has also performed as a soloist in series including the MSU Federal Credit Union Jazz Artist in Residence Series with MSU’s Jazz Orchestra 1 and the William G. Anderson Slavery to Freedom: An American Odyssey Lecture Series as an opener for guest speakers including MC Lyte and Dr. Angela Davis. 

With a passion for advocacy and community organizing, Miranda presides over MSU Color Me Music: An Alliance for Students of Color. There, she works to create spaces where students of color are connected, supported, and highlighted in their academic and artistic spaces. As a graduate teaching assistant, she also instructs voice lessons to non-voice majors at MSU.
