Susanne Garber

Violin, Viola

Dr. Susanne Garber is an instructor of violin and viola at the Michigan State University Community Music and is CMS’ Area Chair of Suzuki and Strings.

She received her Bachelor of Music at Boston University, her Master of Music at Florida State University, and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts at Michigan State University. She is certified in Suzuki violin training.

Dr. Garber has been a faculty member at schools across Michigan, including the Jackson Symphony School and Albion College as well as the Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp. She has also taught at the Pennsylvania Suzuki Institute.

Dr. Garber has performed with the MSU, Lansing, and Jackson Symphony Orchestras in addition to the Savannah and Tallahassee Symphonies, the Erie Philharmonic, Fredonia Chamber Players, and the National Repertory Orchestra, nationally. She has also performed at the Chautauqua Summer Festival and the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds.

Dr. Garber is co-founder of the Heartland Klezmorim, a band that plays traditional klezmer music, in addition to being a freelance musician since 1981.
