Yoshihiro Fukagawa

Yoshihiro Fukagawa is a Japanese-born guitarist, composer, audio engineer, and music educator. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Jazz Guitar Emphasis, from Grand Valley State University, a Master of Music in Composition from Central Michigan University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from Michigan State University. Yoshihiro first came to Michigan in 2001 as a high school exchange student, and he has been busy performing, composing, recording, and teaching throughout the state since then. At MSU Community Music School, besides teaching, he is directing their newly formed outreach ensemble, Spartan Community Guitar Ensemble, where he also participates as a musician, composer, and arranger.

As a guitarist and audio engineer, Yoshihiro has become a familiar face in the live theatre and concert music scenes throughout the greater Lansing and Jackson areas. He regularly records and runs sound for concerts at MSU for groups like the MSU Wind Symphony, MSU Symphony Orchestra, and Lansing Symphony Orchestra. He is also actively involved as a composer and educator, and teaches lessons in the greater Lansing areas.
