Yunghsuan Lo

Violin

Yunghsuan Lo is an avid violinist as a soloist, a chamber, and orchestra musician, performing with diverse ensembles in the U.S., Germany, China, and her home country Taiwan. Yunghsuan won a position in the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra beginning in 2020. She also occasionally performs with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the Flint Symphony Orchestra, and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

Yunghsuan won the first prize of the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition in 2019, which afforded her the opportunity to perform at the world renowned Carnegie Hall in New York.
In 2021, she was awarded first prize at the New York Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition.

During her time in Taiwan, Yunghsuan was of ten asked to step up to the front of the stage as a soloist. She has performed Vaughn Williams "The Lark Ascending” and Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons Spring Violin Concerto” as a soloist at Taipei Zhongshan Hall. In 2013, she was selected as a young talented violinist to participate in the Taiwan Connection Chamber Orchestra, directed by renowned violinist Nai Yuan Hu, which led to her performing with professional musicians throughout Taiwan.

As a chamber musician, she has joined the International Chamber Soloists and worked intensively with violinist Dmitri Berlinsky and other young musicians. In 2017, she also joined "Camerata Michigan", and performed with cellist Suren Bagratuni. Her talent as a chamber musician let her collaborate with such renowned artis ts as Nai Yuan Hu, Dmitri Berlinsky, Suren Bagratuni, Richard Sherman, Chen Yu Huang, Tao Chang Yu, Domenic Salerni and the Dali String Quartet.

A dedicated violin instructor, Yunghsaun is passionate about teaching young artists, sharing valuable knowledge of music, and providing students with strong technical skills. She served as a guest artist at Bard Music Colombia and collaborated with their faculty and students.

Yunghsuan earned her Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Taipei and her Doctoral of Music degree in Violin performance from Michigan State University. Her primary teachers have included Tao Chang Yu, Dmitri Berlinsky, Amy Oshiro Morales and Chiu Sen Chen. Yunghsuan plays an antique violin by Candi Cesare, c. 1932, sponsored by the Chimei Museum Violin Collection.
