Cera Babb is an instructor for the CMS Children Youth Choirs’ classes in Conducting Lessons/Score Study and Original Song Writing. A graduate assistant at Michigan State University, Cera has taught and assisted undergraduate classes at MSU and is in her second year assisting the MSU Choral Union ensemble.
Cera has a master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Oregon, where she earned the Graduate Employee Award of Excellence in Ensemble Teaching for exemplary leadership, professionalism, and success in ensemble teaching. She also served as the Artistic Advisor to the Motet Singers, an a cappella ensemble based in Eugene that performs a wide range of music from the Medieval and Renaissance eras to contemporary compositions.
Before returning to school to pursue graduate degrees, Cera taught at Sanford School in Delaware for 5 years. In 2015 Cera was honored with the Johns Award for Excellence in Teaching which recognizes one educator for excellence in teaching across all disciplines and divisions in the Pre-K-12th grade college preparatory school. Cera was also a director for the University of Delaware CMS Children’s Choirs. As a leader for the CMS Children’s Choirs, Cera conducted ensembles in seasonal concerts and community outreach experiences, led her ensemble in adjudicated competitions, and co-coordinated and ran the CMS Children’s Choir Summer Camp.
