Drew Barnhart

Trumpet

Drew Barnhart is an instructor of trumpet at the Michigan State University Community Music School.

While at MSU, Drew was an active member of the Michigan State University Band Program. He was also a member of the world-renowned Spartan Marching Band and served as trumpet section leader for three years and Band President for two years. His teachers in wind conducting include David Thornton (Associate Director of Bands, MSU), Arris Golden (Assistant Director of Bands, Michigan State University), Simon Holoweiko (Associate Director of Bands, Louisiana State University), and Rebekah Daniel (Visiting Director of Wind Ensemble, University of Utah). His primary teacher in Trumpet Performance is Justin Emerich (Professor of Trumpet, MSU).

Upon completion of his studies at MSU, Drew served as a student teacher within the Seaholm High School band program in Birmingham, Michigan. Under the direction of Tim Cibor he learned the importance of creating community support for music education and building professional relationships with students. 

Drew Barnhart currently serves as the Director of Bands for Perry Public Schools in Perry, MI and as the trumpet instructor at the Michigan State University Community Music School.
