Kayla Green

Beginning Violin

Kayla Green is an instructor for the beginning violin class at the Michigan State University Community Music School.

She has taught violin extensively in both private and group settings, as well as leading orchestra clinics across the state. Ms. Green has worked as a counselor at the Meadowmount School of Music, chamber music coach, director’s assistant, and assistant concertmaster at Philadelphia International Music Festival, and violin instructor at the Central Michigan University Community Music School, B’s Music Shop, and the West Michigan Academy of Arts and Academics.

Ms. Green has performed chamber music on both violin and viola across the United States and Italy. She enjoys orchestral playing and has served as concertmaster for multiple orchestras, including a four-year fellowship with the Midland Symphony Orchestra.

She has studied the violin for the past 18 years and was raised in the Suzuki method. She earned her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University, where she received  the President’s Award for Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievements. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at Michigan State University under Dmitri Berlinsky.

She has also studied under Ann Setzer (The Juilliard School), Yvonne Lam (Michigan State University, Eighth Blackbird), and many members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Kayla Green also offers traditional violin lessons. She has performed in klezmer and Celtic/bluegrass groups alongside her classical training, and welcomes her students to explore the wide variety of repertoire and styles available to them as violinists.
