Larry Thompson

New Horizons Adult Beginning Band
(assistant to Mon. evening and Tue. & Thurs. bands)

Larry Thompson is in his 7th year as assistant director of the New Horizon bands. A 1981 graduate of Michigan State University, he spent 25 years in the state’s public schools as band director in Stockbridge, Onekama and Morrice. He currently travels to schools around the state for both Marshall Music, as a beginning band student instrument fitter, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in his capacity as a scholarship representative.  In addition to playing clarinet and alto sax, he is a pianist and an avid jazz maven.  When not musically engaged, you may find him on a golf course, at a board gamers gathering or riding roller coasters with his son, who designs theme parks for a living.
