A native of Mid-Michigan, Lauren has been a staple of the Michigan teaching community for over two decades. A sought-after clinician, she has worked with the Okemos, East Lansing, Waverly and Mid-Michigan Youth symphonies, the Lansing Symphony Orchestra’s Side-by-Side youth program and served as judge for the Lansing Symphony Youth Competition. Each summer, Lauren can be found teaching at MASTA (Michigan Chapter of the American String Teacher Association) String Camp and Flint Institute of Music’s Summer Fun with Strings program.
A certified Suzuki method instructor, Lauren runs successful teaching studios at home and through the Michigan State University Community Music School. She teaches students of any age, from three to adult, and any level. Students of Ms. Hansen’s studio have won scholarships to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Blue Lake International Orchestra, and the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, among other prestigious institutions and have gone on to major in performance and music therapy.
A sixteen year veteran performer with the Lansing and Jackson Symphony Orchestras, Lauren performs regularly around the state of Michigan. She has performed with such diverse acts as Mannheim Steamroller, Celtic Woman and the 2014 Broadway tour of Porgy and Bess.
